Good question! CHP stands for Combined Heat & Power. CHP means that while electricity is being generated from the electrical generator, heat is being transferred from the burned fuel to heat water for use in home space heating or to provide your house with hot mains water. For every kW of electricity generated, the engine loses 3kW via heat to atmostphere. If we can use this heat (which is free because it is a by-product of creating electricity), we can save energy, money, and this helps sustain the lovely world in which we live!
